Alberta Innovates is the province's largest research and innovation agency providing funding to SMEs throughout the entire innovation spectrum—from the generation of new ideas through applied testing to commercialization.

The Alberta Innovation Employment Grant is applicable for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that invest in research and development (R&D) with a refundable tax credit worth up to 20% on qualifying expenditures.

The Apprenticeship Job Creation Tax Credit (AJCTC) is a non-refundable investment tax credit which employers can claim, equal to 10% of the eligible salaries and wages payable (with a max of $2,000/year) to eligible apprentices.

TECTERRA provides financial assistance in the form of grant and/or repayable loans to SMEs aimed at developing geospatial/geomatics technology to solve industry problems. Access up to 50% to 100% coverage of project expenses to a maximum of $500K per applicant.

Canada Summer Jobs program provides wage subsidies to employers from not-for-profit organizations, the public sector, and private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees across Canada, to create quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years.

The Canada-Alberta Job Grant is a training program where employers can get up to 100% of training costs reimbursed (up to $15,000/employee) when hiring and training eligible newly employed Albertans.

The CAP is a five-year, $3 billion federal-provincial-territorial investment in the agriculture, agri-food and agri-based products sector. In Alberta, the CAP program represents a federal – provincial investment of $406 million in strategic programs and initiatives for the agricultural sector.
