Filming in Calgary?
We’ve got everything you need to know and do.
Production PermitsAs Canada’s fourth-largest filming jurisdiction, Calgary is home to award-winning talent and crews, world-renowned locations and a purpose-built film studio. It’s no wonder Calgary is a location of choice for local, national and international filmmakers who are inspired to bring their stories to the world – and the podium.
The Calgary Film Centre has your production covered, with 50,000 square feet of purpose-built sound stages and 35,000 square feet of workshop and warehouse space. Co-located with anchor tenant William F. White, Canada’s largest provider of professional motion picture, television, interactive digital media and theatrical production equipment, the Calgary Film Centre is equipped to service year-round productions.
From the deserts of Afghanistan to the battlefields of feudal Japan to a trendy restaurant in Beverly Hills, Calgary is a chameleon able to play a wide spectrum of roles.
While best known for our majestic, awe-inspiring scenery central to the imagery and imagination evoked by the frontier of the untamed West, Calgary's remarkably diverse geography and vibrant urban settings make it a very popular setting for a vast range of productions. Within a three-hour radius of Calgary, a filmmaker can experience the prairies, the Badlands, the Rocky Mountains and two large municipalities.
