Every month in 2020, New Economy LIVE will bring together community members to learn about our Calgary’s economic strategy, Calgary in the New Economy. All are invited to come network, share ideas and hear from a diverse panel of experts.
“When we were designing the series, we had a few simple rules. It had to be free to attend, citizen-focused, feature high-quality research and inspiring speakers. That’s exactly what we’ve done,” says Jason Ribeiro, Director of Strategy, Calgary Economic Development.
“New Economy LIVE is a statement to all four corners of this community that are a huge part of building a new economy in this city. We hope that hearing about the vision for Calgary in the New Economy from our Research and Strategy team, as well as community leaders each month will leave people inspired and optimistic about Calgary’s future.”
Each event will feature a research presentation and panel focused on exploring one of the strategy’s four areas of focus: Talent, Innovation, Place and Business Environment. Our aim is to show Calgarians why these four pillars are so critical to a vibrant economy.
Our vision is for Calgary to become the city of choice for the world’s best entrepreneurs who embrace technology to solve the world’s greatest challenges: cleaner energy, safe and secure food, efficient movement of goods and people and better health solutions.
Our February 11 kickoff event is focused on Place, and actively supporting diversity and inclusion, which advances our vision for becoming the most livable city in Canada.
