The team at Calgary Economic Development received its first two Marketing Canada Awards from the Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC) for its website redesign and anthem video. The national awards celebrate excellence in economic development with a focus on highlighting best-in-class marketing and community initiatives.
“I’m proud of the work we’re doing together as a community to showcase Calgary,” said Brad Parry, President and CEO of Calgary Economic Development. “Our work invites the world to Calgary – the place where bright minds and big ideas come together with an unmatched spirit to help solve global challenges.”
The video, Calgary. A city of innovators, dreamers, visionaries and game changers, tells the story of a vibrant, inclusive city of possibility through the voices of diverse entrepreneurs, artists and community members.
Working with Team Calgary partner Joe Media Group on the creative vision, the video connects viewers to the people who make Calgary an outstanding place to build a life and turn dreams into reality. The video has reached over 2.2 million views to date and is used to attract business and talent internationally.
The CalgaryEconomicDevelopment.com website was redesigned with Team Calgary partner Evans Hunt to become an intuitive, mobile-first platform that reflects a creative, innovative and inclusive city. The website invites audiences to explore Calgary, the third most livable city in the world – and many came to do just that. The website saw a 15 per cent increase in traffic within two months of launch.
The video and website redesign also received International Economic Development Council awards – silver in the Website Redesign and Replatform category, and bronze in Multimedia Video/Promotion.
The EDAC is Canada’s national association of economic development professionals, with nearly 1,000 members. The Marketing Canada Awards were presented at their annual conference Oct. 2.
