Calgary Economic Development won two International Economic Development Council (IEDC) awards, including silver in the Website Redesign and Replatform category, and bronze in Multimedia Video/Promotion for Calgary. A city of innovators, dreamers, visionaries and game changers.

“Congratulations and a big thank you to the talented team at Calgary Economic Development whose passion and creativity shines through in all they do to promote our city,” said Brad Parry, President and CEO, Calgary Economic Development.

“Working with community partners, we are welcoming the world to Calgary – a diverse, inclusive city where we can solve global challenges together.”

The Calgary Economic Development team worked with Team Calgary partners Evans Hunt on the calgaryeconomicdevelopment.com redesign, which saw a 15 per cent increase in traffic within two months of launch and Joe Media Group on the creative vision of the new anthem video, a key creative asset in paid media campaigns for talent and business attraction, which has amassed over 2.2 million views across platforms.

The Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize the world’s best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials and the year’s most influential leaders through 35 awards. The awards, which honour efforts in creating positive change in urban, suburban, and rural communities, are presented annually at the IEDC’s annual conference, held in Oklahoma City in 2022.

In 2021, Calgary Economic Development received gold in the Multimedia/Video Promotion category for its Calgary sector videos and bronze for its New Economy LIVE event series in the Special Events category. The organization received three awards in 2020: Gold for the Paid Advertising Campaign Live Tech, Love Life; Silver for Multimedia & Video Promotion for This is Calgary; and Bronze for Partnerships with Educational Institutions for its collaboration with the University of Calgary, SAIT and Bow Valley College on the EDGE UP Pilot Program, funded by the Government of Canada’s Future Skills Centre.

Calgary is the host city for the 2023 IEDC Economic Future Forum.
