As cities respond to an ever-changing political, environmental, and social climate, the accelerated pace of change, and increasing accountability, economic development agencies are having to reimagine how they do ‘strategy.’
At the core of this reimagination is the acknowledgement that the future is not knowable, and instead, highly unpredictable. Calgary Economic Development and our Calgary in the New Economy economic strategy serve as an example of how long-range planning can embrace adaptivity to meet both the challenges and opportunities posed by the new economy.
