On Saturday, January 18th, the public is invited to join hands to celebrate friendship, family, diversity, and inclusivity at the 14th Annual Miskanawah Friendship Round Dance at the Genesis Centre at 5 pm.
Steeped in tradition, the Round Dance is a healing ceremony that honours the memories of loved ones through singing and dancing followed by a cultural feast. This event brings thousands of people from all backgrounds together to celebrate First Nations culture and will feature original works of art, jewelry, and textiles by local Indigenous artists. Admission is by donation. For more information visit https://miskanawah.ca/annual-round-dance
Proceeds from this event will go towards supporting vulnerable children, youth and families throughout Calgary. Miskanawah (mis-con-a-wa), Cree for “many little roads and paths” is a non-profit organization that supports Calgarians in the areas of positive parenting, child development, youth engagement, and leadership. We work from a harm-reduction and strength-based perspective towards healing, strength, and reconciliation.
