What is all the buzz about renewable energy? How does it affect the energy industry in Canada today? We have lots of options for the next generation of energy....geothermal, solar, wind, nuclear, biomass, tidal and so many smart people working in the energy industry already, so what does the future hold?
Energy Beers Nights is an informal event/opportunity to meet folks in the energy industry in Canada (renewable and oil patch alike). Rather than divisive politics about pipelines and carbon taxes, this is about chatting about the realities of all kinds of energy development and solutions. This is an opportunity to meet others interested in developing energy resources in Canada and share ideas. We socialize from 7-8pm and we interview our guest speaker around 8pm.
Our guest speaker for February 2020 is Poul Bay, founder of Well-Powered. Poul has holds a BComm from the University of Calgary, and his Commerce and Finance background has taken him around the world in diverse capacities with foreign governments, in economics, mining, business and media, including China, Kazakstan, Mexico and India.
He has operated start-ups in technology, organized large scale events, and worked extensively in economic development. His recent business adventure is "Well-Powered" which is converting Alberta’s natural resources into market-ready environmentally responsible energy, and using that energy to grow food locally and sustainably. Talk about innovation and diversification using Alberta's natural resources!!
Join us for a winter pint and chat about innovation and opportunity on February 18th, 2020 at Last Best. It's been a pretty full house the last few months, so sign up early and if you aren't able to attend please update the Meetup/RSVP to make sure we have room for anyone on the waiting list!
