The Canadian International Council's (CIC) Calgary branch, in cooperation with Calgary Economic Development, is pleased to host Jongho Kyun, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Vancouver, for a presentation and Q&A session covering South Korea's relationship with Canada and Alberta, and North Korea nuclear issues.

Consul General Jongho Kyun joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996. He has served in the Korean Mission to the European Union, and in the Korean Embassy to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the United States of America, and the Republic of the Philippines. From 2018 to 2019, Mr. Kyun served as Deputy Consul General at the Korean Consulate in Atlanta. He assumed the post of Consul General in Vancouver in 2022. In the Foreign Ministry, he led the G20 team as director and has dealt with many economic agendas related with OECD, WTO, G20 and UNESCAP. He also participated in the bilateral FTA negotiations with the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand. Prior to assuming the post of Consul General in Vancouver, he was Director-General for Public Diplomacy and Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also served as a board member of the Korea Foundation, Korea National Committee of UNESCO, Arirang TV, and the King Sejong Institute Foundation. He studied French literature at Seoul National University and has a master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University in the U.S.
