
Unemployment in Calgary dropped 1.3 percentage points to 11.3 per cent and 17,000 jobs were added in October.
The numbers indicate continued recovery in the labour market following a 15.6 per cent unemployment rate, which the Calgary region reached in June at the height of the impact of the first wave of COVID-19.
Statistics Canada reported strong gains in both the Educational Services and Wholesale & Retail Trade sectors this month, adding 5,500 and 4,300 jobs, respectively. The Transportation & Warehousing sector added 3,600 jobs.
