More than 9,000 families have homes and countless memories have been created thanks to a company’s 25-year commitment to building homes with pride to enhance the lives of its customers and the communities they live in.
Strong leadership is a hallmark at Trico, and Wayne Chiu, the founder of Trico Homes, says his proudest achievement was seeing Trico named one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed companies for the first time in 2004.
“At that point I knew I could use the success of my business to do good in the community and ultimately create new business opportunities by creating shared value,” says Chiu, chief executive officer, who was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2015.
Building community, respecting the environment and being a good corporate citizen have long been top of mind for leaders with the company, which has contributed to many local educational and recreational institutions and community events such as GlobalFest.
Trico Homes was the first and is still the only Canadian residential builder to be registered as a B Corp, a third-party worldwide certification earned by companies that meet rigorous social sustainability, environmental performance and accountability standards.
“New initiatives like the recent restoration of 159 flood-damaged homes in the Stoney Nakoda Nation and the development of affordable and accessible rental housing are just some of the examples of how Trico Homes is doing well by doing good,” says Wanda Palmer, VP Marketing for Trico Homes.
“Although we are very proud to celebrate our past accomplishments on the tricomoments.com site, we are extremely excited for the future,” says Palmer. “Trico’s belief in doing well by doing good continues to inspire and drive the culture of the company as well as shape and create new opportunities for the organization. Moving forward, business agility is a key attribute for Trico to ensure we continue to be relevant and successfully grow into the future.”
