Calgary Economic Development won four awards at the EDA Xperience 2021 virtual summit and conference.

The Economic Developers Alberta (EDA) awards recognize excellence in economic development in Alberta. The following awards were presented to Calgary Economic Development at the online ceremony Thursday, May 20.

  1. Business and Investment Attraction (BIA) - Large Community
    Calgary Economic Development, Economic Development Through Film and Television
  2. Community Economic Development (CED) - Large Community
    Calgary Economic Development, EDGE UP
  3. The Alex Metcalfe Award (recognizes the "best of the best" community project)
    Calgary Economic Development, Economic Development Through Film and Television
  4. The CAPP People's Choice Award (voted by delegates during EDA Xperience 2021)
    Calgary Economic Development, Economic Development Through Film and Television

Several Calgary Economic Development team members also presented at the EDA conference, including:

  • Luke Azevedo, VP Creative Industries & Film Commissioner, and Erin O’Connor, Business Development Manager, Calgary Film Centre, in the Alberta’s Future: Creative Industries, Film, Culture & Digital Media panel;
  • Jeanette Sutherland, Director, EDGE UP program, in the Alberta’s People Advantage panel; and
  • Brad Parry, VP Marketing & Communications, in the Community Branding & Marketing session.
