The Calgary Fire Department serves the community by reducing or eliminating the threat of fire, environmental spills, accidents, and disasters. These accidents may be the result of nature or human actions.

The Fire Department is committed to making Calgary a healthier and safer community by cooperating with the many agencies and individuals who share this goal.

Services

The fire suppression division provides the necessary personnel and equipment to carry out emergency firefighting, rescue operations and pre-hospital care support services.

The fire suppression division has response capabilities in the following areas:

  • Air rescue
  • Aquatic rescue/ patrols
  • Heavy rescue
  • High angle rescue
  • Hazardous materials handling
  • Pre hospital care
  • Vehicle extrication

Non-emergency services including:
  • Blood pressure clinics
  • Educational programs ( injury and fire prevention, needle safety)
  • CPR training
  • Fire station tours
  • Firefighter community activities
  • Home inspections (Smoke Detector Program)
  • Household chemical drop-off sites
  • Hydrant flushing and inspections
  • Semi Automatic External Defibrillation (SAED) training
